Lately I have been shaking up the order of the restorations and restoring the wheels after polishing the frames. For some reason it makes it feel like I am accomplishing more faster even though I really am not.
I like the wheels a lot, they are very heavy duty and very nice wheels under the dirt and dullness. I broke down the wheels and got the very grease hub components into the crock pot and sonic cleaner. I cleaned the hubs and rims and then worked through the polishing. The wheel hubs polished amazing!! I love this stuff. With the hubs and rims polished and the hub components ready I packed new bearings in new grease.
I trued the wheels and then installed a new tire on the rear, the front tire was almost new. Complete the wheels spin so smooth and best off all the wheels look amazing! I can't wait to see them on the frame.

The headset and bottom bracket where in descent starting shape. I put them through the crock pot for cleaning and then worked through the polishing wheels. The headset and bottom bracket polished very nice. Although the black bottom bracket cups do not get polished. New bearings and new grease have the headset and bottom bracket spinning fantastically smooth.

The handlebars are awesome bullmoose handlebars. Most early mountain bikes had bullmoose handlebars and then they just faded away. The funny thing is they are coming back now. Bullmoose bars are so cool! I put them on my 87 Miyata Valley Runner.
These handlebars had a very early bike computer on them. It doesn't work but look at thing, it has as many buttons as a scientific calculator. Kind of cool to see!
I cleaned the handlebars and polished out the chrome and the stem bolt pieces. Everything polished beautifully. The handlebars look great installed!

I love the early mountain bike brake levers, they have a heavy duty feel to them that I really like. The brake levers where a little rough, I cleaned everything then worked through the polishing wheels. A little touch up paint on the black and the brake levers look amazing.
The shift levers are very cool early thumb friction shifters. I cleaned and flushed all the pieces and then did the polishing. With some lubrication the shift levers look great and work great!

Next is the seat post, saddle and the binder bolt. The saddle is a little rough but after cleaning it was fine. Chuck will replace the saddle if he wants. The seat post and binder pieces polished nice and all the polished chrome looks great against the polished paint.

The brake calipers are early cantilever brake calipers. Not early in the sense of cantilever brake calipers but early for mountain bike cantilever brake calipers. They take a little skill to adjust but I think they are so cool. They don't make them like this anymore.
It doesn't look like there is many pieces to cantilever brake calipers but there actually is a lot to them. A lot of pieces to polish and then the black arms are hand polished. With a good deal of work into them the cantilever look amazing and function super smooth. I love this stuff! I really doo!

The derailleurs are cool. They almost look like Shimano Deer Head derailleurs, but are not. I cleaned all the pieces and worked on the polishing wheels. Everything polished beautifully and with all the pivot points lubricated the derailleurs function super smooth.

Now this crank is cool! The earliest of the cranks on mountain bikes. Looks a lot like a French crank Like a Stronglight or a TA. So cool!! One thing about the crank those is the nightmare number of pieces. I used a very large magnetic tray to keep track of them all. Loose one and I would be screwed.
I cleaned all the many pieces and then worked through the polishing wheels. The pieces turned out amazing!! Complete the crank looks amazing and installed even better!! I am very jealous of the crank. I wish I had one for my Miyata Valley Runner.

The handlebar grips are in okay condition. After cleaning and treating they are much better. Chuck will decide later what he wants to do for grips.

At this time I wired the Bianchi. I chose the lighter gray color cable housings. I think the lighter will just go better with the gray color of the frame. I think the dark gray would be to much dark gray. I forgot to take photos of the Bianchi wired but it can be seen in the final photos.

The Bianchi was pretty much tuned in right out of the shop. I road the Bianchi a long ways just because it was fun and I really liked it. The ride is great, the components are great. Exactly like a beefed up touring bike which is so much fun. I would love to throw a Brooks on there and take the Bianchi on a S24O.
Get the Bianchi out of the shop lights and the looks just pop!. An amazing bike!! The polished gray paint really shines in the sun! The light gray cable housings I think where the perfect chose. I love it!! In the outdoor photos you can really see that high bottom bracket! So cool!! This is the reason I love the early mountain bikes or ATB bikes!
