This is a restoration of a 1980's Centurion Dave Scott Ironman. This is the era I love, the 1980's steel! The Centurion is a restoration for a local retailer. It will be available for sale through the retailer and I will supply a link. I think this Ironman spent some time out in the elements, which at least half of the Ironman's I have restored have been left in the elements and this is the 15 or 16th I have restored. I don't know why Ironman's get left out side more than others.
The Centurion Dave Scott Ironman will get a complete restoration along with new Powder coating, new decals, new cables and housings, new bearings, new brake lever hoods and new bar tape. The frame checked out clean on the inside so it was off to the races.
I love 1980's design color schemes and smulch however we are making one change to the looks, we are removing the white two tone from the paint scheme. We are going for a more clean mean look, also we chose a slightly darker red for that mean look.
One last thing, I love that the Ironman still has the last Triathlon number sticker on the head tube and the 1980's bicycle computer, so cool!!

Apparently I didn't take any photos of just the frame before stripping and powder coating. I did take photos of the frame and fork after powder coating. I love the darker red color and just the whole results of the new paint. I really like how the fork turned out.

First was cleaning and polishing the headset and bottom bracket. Both turned out great! I did replace the lock ring of the bottom bracket. Over all everything spins great!

The handlebars and stem where tarnished from the weather and the brake lever hoods melted away. Some time cleaning and at the polishing wheels and belts and everything looks great! I am so happy with the photo of the stem polished and the brake lever hoods installed! I love this stuff and results like this!!

Next was the Shimano 105 Brake Calipers. I broke the calipers down and started the cleaning and polishing. I am disappointed that the 105 decals basically just flaked off with touch. Overall the calipers turned out beautiful! I did replace the brake pads with used brake pads in better condition.

The Biopace Shimano 105 crank was next on the list. I wish I could have kept the Shimano 105 decals but I was unable. Also the Biopace decal was hanging on by a thread, fortunately I like it much better without the yellow decal.

I have always like this era Shmiano 105 derailleurs along with the Shimano 105 indexed shift levers, I feel they work so easily. Some time cleaning and polishing and the derailleurs looks great! All the pivot points flushed and lubricated and they work just as well!

The wheels need a lot of cleaning and polishing. After a good deal of time everything polished great and new bearings and decals have the wheels spinning forever. New Gatorskin tires finish everything off!

A new chain as installed at this time, fortunately the freewheel had no wear. I chose simple black handlebar tape, the black just goes so well with the darker red. At this time I also installed the silver braded cable housings, I like how the silver braided housings go well with the red and the black handlebar tape.

Decals where next. We thought about maybe making up a more simple clean design for the decals but in the end we had to stay true to the original theme. The decals where very nice quality and finish the bike of so nicely, I love it!!

That finishes off the Centurion Dave Scott Ironman. The test ride was no nice! So smooth and so fast. I know bicycles from this era are slightly slower than modern bicycles but these bicycles always feel like you are flying. The steel sucks up road vibration and it just feels so fast, so much faster than a modern bike even though it is not. And I love that feeling!!
I love the final results of the Dave Scott Ironman. After test ride an finally photos I found myself just staring at the bicycle while I drank my coffee. I love this stuff and this bike!!
