Im swapping my trek 1000 to STI levers and wanted to change my chainring and cranks as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03231133226744900180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-644962941958841994.post-69218091444775042792018-01-18T22:42:11.432-08:002018-01-18T22:42:11.432-08:00I purchased one of these new, fun bike, same color...I purchased one of these new, fun bike, same color scheme as yours. First time it has seen the light of day in 15 years. I also pulled out my 25+ year old bike trainer as well. I rode the bike/trainer for about an hour before a derailleur cable snapped. Is there any difference between derailleur cables or a specific size that I should be looking at?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00908643422836827146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-644962941958841994.post-91376306682290649292014-06-07T11:55:57.609-07:002014-06-07T11:55:57.609-07:00Great in-detail account. Looked at this blog, then decided to drive a screw halfway into the old housing, clip its head off, and screw the new cable housing onto the screw sticking out from the old housing. Once everything was connected, I just pulled the new cable housing through. Worked like a charm. Thanks so much, John, for the inspiration. Great blog!
Here's my Trek 1000: https://www.flickr.com/photos/faoc/14366480674/

One last thing. Although my bike is also a 1992 Trek 1000, my seatstays are different: just have a look at the seat pin area. Incidentally, mine looks exactly like the 1993 Trek 1200.PPThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13723194320208301219noreply@blogger.com
